Vitena vs Carepatron
Two products with a free plan that never expires — betting on completely different things. Here is which bet suits you.
Let us start where we lose. Carepatron's free plan is more generous than ours on features: it includes telehealth, an AI scribe that drafts notes from a session, integrated online payments and no cap on client numbers. Ours has none of those three. If what you want is the most capable product you can get for nothing, they win that comparison and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Read on only if the thing you are short of is not features — it is clients.

The actual difference
Carepatron is software for the clients you already have. Vitena is software for the clients you already have plus a marketplace where new ones find you. Someone searching for a dietitian, dentist, physiotherapist or psychologist in their city lands on the Vitena directory, filters by discipline, language and whether you consult online, and books you directly — on the free plan, without paying us anything and without a commission on the appointment.
How much that is worth depends entirely on how big the directory is where you practise, and it is smaller in some cities than others. It is a fair question to ask us before you commit, and the honest answer is that it is growing rather than finished.

Who should not choose Vitena
Vitena is built for practices that bill the client directly — private-pay work. It is not a public-insurance billing system: no §302/GKV settlement, no TI connection, no VECOZO declarations, no VeriFactu e-invoicing and no e-SMM issuance. If reimbursement claims are the core of your week, neither product on this page is really aimed at you.
Frequently asked questions
Which free plan is better?
It depends on what you need free. Carepatron's free tier includes things ours does not — telehealth, an AI scribe and integrated online payments — and it does not cap client numbers. Vitena's free tier includes something theirs does not: a listing in a public directory where people search for a professional and book you directly, plus 3 team seats, EU hosting and a GDPR Art. 28 agreement. If you already have a full diary, take theirs. If you need the diary filled, take ours.
What does Carepatron cost after the free plan?
As published on carepatron.com/pricing in August 2026, the Plus plan lists at $31 per user per month and Advanced at $39, with a promotional 50% off for the first six months. Vitena is €15 per month for one practitioner plus €9 per additional seat, with no promotional pricing to expire. Carepatron also charges separately for some clinical extras, such as $39 per month for e-prescribe.
Is Vitena a good fit for a practice in Europe?
That is what it was built for. The interface runs in English, Spanish, Turkish, German, Dutch, Ukrainian and Portuguese; data is stored in the EU in the AWS Frankfurt region with a separate database schema per practice; the Art. 28 GDPR data processing agreement — the AVV in Germany, the verwerkersovereenkomst in the Netherlands — is free on every plan including the free one; and informed consent uses a simple electronic signature under eIDAS art. 25 with a full evidence trail.
Does Vitena have an AI scribe or telehealth?
Not in the way Carepatron does. Vitena's AI drafts session notes and meal plans when you ask it to, but there is no ambient scribe that listens to a consultation. There is no built-in video either — you attach your own Meet or Zoom link to the appointment. Both are real gaps and worth weighing.
Both are free. Try both.
Neither of us asks for a card, so this is a comparison you can run yourself in an afternoon. Ours takes about ten minutes to get listed and taking bookings.
