Vitena vs Cliniko

Both run a practice. Only one of them also brings you clients. An honest look at where each one wins.

Every plan gets every feature — no tier games. If you need SMS, video calls inside the product or an iPhone app today, stop reading: Cliniko is the better tool. Who should not choose Vitena

Vitena is built for practices that bill the client directly — private-pay work. It is not a public-insurance billing system: no §302/GKV settlement, no TI connection, no VECOZO declarations, no VeriFactu e-invoicing and no e-SMM issuance. If reimbursement claims are the core of your week, neither this page nor this product is going to help you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cliniko have a free plan?

No. As published on cliniko.com/pricing in August 2026, Cliniko offers a 30-day free trial and then requires a paid subscription, starting at $45 per month for a single practitioner. Vitena has a permanent free plan with no credit card and no expiry, covering the directory listing, online booking, unlimited client records and up to 3 seats; paid plans start at €15 per month.

What does Vitena have that Cliniko does not?

A public directory. Cliniko is practice management software; Vitena is practice management plus a marketplace where people search for a professional and book directly. That is the difference between software that organises the clients you already have and software that also brings you new ones. Vitena also runs in 7 languages, hosts in the EU with an Art. 28 GDPR data processing agreement, and includes digital informed consent with an eIDAS electronic signature.

What does Cliniko do better?

Cliniko is a mature, well-regarded product with a long track record, native mobile apps for practitioners, built-in telehealth, SMS reminders and a large integration ecosystem. Vitena has no SMS sending, no built-in video (you attach your own Meet or Zoom link) and no iOS app yet. If those are essential to you, Cliniko is the safer choice.

Can I move my data from Cliniko to Vitena?

Yes. Client records can be imported from CSV or Excel, and we help with the mapping. Your own data stays exportable from Vitena at any time, without asking.
