Back discomfort is very common, and small everyday habits can make a real difference to how your back feels over time.
Keep moving
The back likes movement. Sitting or standing in one position for a long time can leave it stiff, so it helps to change position often and take short movement breaks through the day. A gentle walk is one of the simplest ways to keep the back comfortable.
Lift with care
When you pick something up, bend at the hips and knees rather than the waist, keep the load close to your body, and avoid twisting while lifting. For heavier or awkward items, it is fine to ask for help.
Support good posture
There is no single perfect posture, and the best one is often just your next one. Set up your chair and screen so you can sit comfortably, and vary how you sit and stand across the day.
Most back discomfort eases on its own. If pain is severe, does not improve after a couple of weeks, or spreads down a leg, it is worth seeing a professional.
