Eating well does not have to mean weighing food or counting every calorie. Thinking in simple proportions is often enough to build meals that are filling and balanced.
Picture the plate
Fill half of your plate with vegetables and fruit, in a range of colours. Use a quarter for whole grains such as brown rice, oats, bulgur or whole-grain bread, and the last quarter for a protein like beans, lentils, eggs, fish or poultry.
Add the finishing touches
A little healthy fat, such as olive oil, nuts or seeds, helps meals feel satisfying and supports the body. Making water your default drink is one of the easiest upgrades you can make.
Make it realistic
The proportions are a guide, not a rule. Some meals will not fit the picture neatly, and that is fine. Aiming for this balance most of the time, while still enjoying the foods you love, is far more sustainable than trying to be perfect at every meal.
